Clearly Australians love a good reno project. But whether it’s for sale or personal reasons, the idea of parting with a big wad of cash for no immediate tangible benefit is, quite frankly, frightening.

Especially if you can’t be sure exactly how much it’s going to cost.

But what if there was a simple, efficient and stress-free way to work out the end cost of your next renovation?

Enter the realestate.com.au renovation estimator, which will sit on the details page of every listing for sale. The estimator allows you to calculate the estimated cost of a renovation for a home you haven’t even bought yet.

Top tips: Selecting a home to renovate

The renovation calculator can help you estimate the cost of a home renovation.

To use the renovation calculator, simply scroll down to ‘Renovation Estimator’ at the bottom of any property listing on your desktop, tablet or mobile.

From there, you can choose the type of renovation you’re after – bathroom, kitchen, paint exterior or paint interior – and then click on ‘Continue’. This more detailed page will allow you to select the room type, measurements and the quality of finish you require for your project.

All of these factors will help you work out the type of renovation you’d like to estimate costs for. You can also change the postcode to check how much those works would cost in another suburb.

The realestate.com.au renovation estimator has been created in conjunction with Cordell Information, a leading authority on project activity and building cost information.
