Volunteers in action at the REALTORS® Volunteer Build in Chicago. |
The National Association of REALTORS® celebrated milestones, reiterated priorities, and discussed possible changes to the organization. Here are some highlights from the conference showing how REALTORS® are honoring the past by moving toward the future.
‘This Is Our Moment. Own It.’
Elizabeth Mendenhall, a sixth-generation REALTOR® and the sixth woman to become president of the National Association of REALTORS® in the past 110 years, was sworn into office by her father, Richard Mendenhall, who was 2001 NAR president, during the Inaugural gala. “Are you ready to own it with me?” Mendenhall asked. “We absolutely have the power to make a difference.”
REALTORS® and Habitat for the Win
In a homecoming of sorts for the long-running tradition of NAR partnering with Habitat for Humanity, the REALTORS® Volunteer Build returned to Chicago, where it began in 2001. Check out our Facebook Live video tour of the site and a slide show of behind-the-scenes photos of the build in the West Pullman neighborhood.
‘Tomorrow’s Leaders, Today’
YPN had a great year, and while it celebrated its wins, it also took time to honor a special someone who’s supported and encouraged the program every step of the way. Learn about what’s next for NAR’s young professionals here, and find out who took home the YPN Network of the Year Awards here.
Should MLSs Be Required to Have a Waiver Policy?
The Board of Directors will vote today on whether to accept a recommendation from the 2017 Multiple Listing Issues & Policies Committee that would allow agents more flexibility in the MLSs they subscribe to. Get the play-by-play on the debate that shaped the so-called “MLS of Choice” recommendation.
