If the housing<\/a> market has a say, the Philadelphia Eagles will emerge victorious against the New England Patriots in this weekend\u2019s Super Bowl LII, the National Association of REALTORS\u00ae predicts. But NAR isn\u2019t judging its pick based on defensive or offensive plays. Instead, its forecast is based on both teams\u2019 housing markets. NAR\u2019s prediction looks at the home price<\/a> increases of the two competing cities, while realtor<\/a>.com\u2019s\u00a0looks at home list prices and days spent on the market.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Philadelphia also gets the most-improved honor, having posted a 23.2 percent increase in home prices since the last time the two teams played each other at a Super Bowl (February 2005). Meanwhile, the New England area has posted a 14 percent increase in that time.<\/p>\n

But based on just list prices and days on the market, the New England Patriots would then knock out the Philadelphia Eagles, realtor.com\u00ae predicts. Make no mistake, Philadelphia and Boston have both\u00a0<\/span>posted strong real estate<\/a> seasons. However, realtor.com\u00ae says Boston has had more potent price yardage overall, with listing<\/a> prices up 8 percent year over year. Philadelphia posted 6 percent gains.<\/p>\n

Boston also showed a faster sales running game, realtor.com\u00ae notes. The for-sale inventory sold in an average of 48 days versus 70 days in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Minneapolis\u2014the city hosting Super Bowl LII in its\u00a0U.S. Bank Stadium\u2014may also be a winner in the game this year, even without a participating team. Some homeowners in the Twin Cities are renting an entire house or rooms for up to $10,000 a night leading up to the Feb. 4 game, the Star Tribune reports. The area\u2019s smaller hotel<\/a> market, compared with past hosting cities, is allowing more homeowners to cash in by offering space in their homes to fans.<\/p>\n
