playing capacity, Bluetooth enabled capacity, liquid crystal display, LCD, cooling agent and rechargeable power source.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0 major contenders for the market are ORL, Binatone, OX, Sonic, QASA, Lontor, STC and Panasonic, all imported brands.\u00a0\u00a0 Others include\u00a0 Linsan, Kenstar, Deluxe, Sonik,\u00a0 Deco.<\/p>\n<p>Vanguard\u00a0 Companies and Markets, C&amp;M\u00a0 investigation revealed a growing demand for fans driven by hot weather, increased population and growing <a href=\"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/property-center-nigeria\/\">real estate<\/a> development.<\/p>\n<p>The need\u00a0 to satisfy the growing\u00a0 \u00a0 demand informed the production of fans of various sizes and capacities, colours and stylish designs that are consumer pocket friendly.<\/p>\n<p>Hence the market is proliferated with different types of fans such as Wall and Window mounted, floor-standing, Ceiling mounted and others.<\/p>\n<p>To maintain\u00a0 market share, the top contenders have developed and introduced \u00a0 power efficient fans that\u00a0 use battery, as well as fans with two blades\u00a0 that give a great cooling output.<\/p>\n<p>Other innovations include remote control\u00a0 and programmable timer.<\/p>\n<p>The competition is further heightened by increasing\u00a0 \u00a0 volume of imported second hand\u00a0 portable fans.<\/p>\n<p>C&amp;M\u00a0 findings showed that\u00a0 major marketers have not neglected the distribution concept of delivering the products directly to the wholesalers for\u00a0 sale to the retailers.<\/p>\n<p>C&amp;M\u00a0 findings showed that most consumers\u2019 patronage is influenced by brand names as well as durability, design, availability of the product as well as referral from other consumers.<\/p>\n<p>Problems<\/p>\n<p>Fans like other home appliances have their peculiar problems in spite of the technological innovations.<\/p>\n<p>C&amp;M\u00a0 findings revealed that\u00a0 with\u00a0 fan engines made from aluminium are more problematic and less durable than\u00a0 \u00a0 fan engines made from\u00a0 \u00a0 copper coils.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers\u2019 speak<\/p>\n<p>Some of the consumers also claimed that second hand\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 fans are more durable than the new ones, though some said they patronise them due to economic condition.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to\u00a0 C&amp;M,\u00a0 consumers were divergent in their preference for the different brands. Though\u00a0 \u00a0 majority indicate preference for\u00a0 \u00a0 ORL, Binatone, OX,\u00a0 QASA, Lontor and STC; ORL, Binatone, OX,\u00a0 \u00a0 came\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 topmost in consumers\u2019 mind due to\u00a0 \u00a0 their durability and cool air output.<\/p>\n<p>A consumer,\u00a0 James\u00a0 Jolomi, prefers OX\u00a0 \u00a0 because it is a brand that has been able to connect with consumers in terms of affordability and durability. \u201cI love OX for its energy-efficiency. It is an alternative to air-conditioners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another consumer, Matthew Olayemi said he prefers ORL for its low power consumption and silence. \u201cBut I am looking forward to trying QASA because of the commendations I had gotten from friends who use the brand\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Hassan Al-Hassan said he prefers imported second hand fans because they are cheap and serves\u00a0 his\u00a0 purpose.<\/p>\n<p>Experts\u2019 response<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to C&amp;M, a fan technician, Muyiwa\u00a0\u00a0 Adelotan, whose shop is located at Isasi, Lagos, confirmed that fans made of\u00a0\u00a0 copper coils are more durable and suitable for the Nigerian environment, \u201cmost of the fans in the market\u00a0 are made from\u00a0 \u00a0 Aluminium.
