{"id":7843,"date":"2018-01-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-01-19T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/have-we-seen-the-last-of-3-mortgage-rates\/"},"modified":"2018-01-19T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-01-19T00:00:00","slug":"have-we-seen-the-last-of-3-mortgage-rates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/have-we-seen-the-last-of-3-mortgage-rates\/","title":{"rendered":"Have We Seen the Last of 3% Mortgage Rates?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<div readability=\"40.67762687634\">\n<!--\n\n<pre>-->  <\/p>\n<div property=\"dc:description\" readability=\"26.787705503931\"><!--paging_filter--><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/realtormag.realtor.org\/sites\/realtormag.realtor.org\/files\/rmo_files\/images\/2018_jan\/rates011918.png\" style=\"width: 620px; height: 252px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Average fixed-rate mortgages rose for the second consecutive week and, for the first time since last summer, the 30-year fixed-rate <a href=\"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/mortgage-preapproval-guide-for-home-buyers\/\">mortgage<\/a> shot above 4 percent, Freddie Mac reports in its weekly mortgage market survey. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the highest weekly average for the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage since May of 2017,\u201d says Len Kiefer, Freddie Mac\u2019s deputy chief economist. \u201cSome may be wondering if this is the last time we\u2019ll see a three handle on the 30-year mortgage rate.\u00a0Never say never, but inflation is firming, the Federal Reserve\u2019s Beige Book indicates broad-based economic growth, and labor markets are tightening. This means upward pressure on long-term rates, like the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, is building.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Freddie Mac reports the following national averages with mortgage rates for the week ending Jan. 18:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>30-year fixed-rate mortgages: averaged 4.04 percent, with an average 0.6 point, up from last week\u2019s 3.99 percent average. Last year at this time, 30-year rates averaged 4.09 percent.<\/li>\n<li>15-year fixed-rate mortgages: averaged 3.49 percent, with an average 0.5 point, increasing from last week\u2019s 3.44 percent average. A year ago, 15-year rates averaged 3.34 percent.<\/li>\n<li>5-year hybrid adjustable-rate mortgages: averaged 3.46 percent, with an average 0.3 point, unchanged from last week\u2019s average.
