Trump has decried the instant best-seller as \u201cphony\u201d and \u201cfull of lies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wolff said his account was drawn from interviews with those in close contact with Trump and all described him in the same terms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey all say he is like a child. And what they mean by that is he has a need for immediate gratification. It\u2019s all about him,\u201d Wolff told NBC\u2019s \u201cToday\u201d show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me put a marker in the sand here. One hundred percent of the people around him\u201d question Trump\u2019s fitness for office, Wolff continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey say he\u2019s a moron, idiot. Actually, there\u2019s a competition to sort of get to the bottom line here of who this man is. Let\u2019s remember, this man does not read. Does not listen. So he\u2019s like a pinball. Just shooting off the sides.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s lawyer is demanding a halt to publication of the book, which goes on sale Friday, and the president insisted in a tweet he had granted Wolff \u201cZero access\u201d to the White House and denied he ever spoke to him for the book.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFull of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don\u2019t exist,\u201d the tweet said.<\/p>\n<p>But Wolff confidently defended himself against attacks on his credibility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy credibility is being questioned by a man who has less credibility than, perhaps, anyone who has ever walked on earth at this point,\u201d Wolff said.<\/p>\n<p>Wolff said he spoke with Trump about three hours during the presidential campaign and after he took office nearly a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo my window into Donald Trump is pretty significant, but even more to the point\u2026 I spoke to people who spoke to the president on a daily, sometimes minute-by-minute basis,\u201d Wolff added, saying he had notes and recordings of the interviews.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am certainly absolutely in every way comfortable with everything I\u2019ve reported in this book.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The book \u2014 which paints Trump as far out of his depth \u2014 includes extensive quotes from Steve Bannon, his former chief strategist, and his publication sparked a very public break between the former allies.<\/p>\n<p>Bannon is quoted accusing Trump\u2019s eldest son Don Jr of \u201ctreasonous\u201d contacts with a Kremlin-connected lawyer, and saying the president\u2019s daughter Ivanka, who imagines running for president one day, is \u201cdumb as a brick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The book claims that for \u201cSteve Mnuchin and Reince Priebus, the president was an \u2018idiot.\u2019 For Gary Cohn, he was \u2018dumb as shit.\u2019 For H.R.
