Warner Robins is the largest city in Houston County Georgia and is often referred to as Georgia’s International City. With Robins Air Force Base situated on the northeast part of town, this community is truly a melting pot of styles and demographics, all with a rich military history and tradition.\t\t\n\t\t<\/p>\n
It was established in 1821, took the name Warner Robins (after Air Force General Augustine Warner Robins) in 1942,\u00a0and has seen considerable change and growth over the last nearly 200 years. Military Heritage<\/strong> – The Warner Robins motto\u00a0“<\/span>Every Day in Middle Georgia is Armed Forces Appreciation Day”\u00a0<\/em>(EDIMGIAFAD) gives you an understanding just how important the military is and has been to this community over the decades. In 1940, when the war department decided to build an air depot in the south, this area was chosen, with construction beginning almost immediately on the 3,000+ allotted acres.<\/p>\n Over the years, Robins Air Force Base as grown in stature, mission, and size, with the city of Warner Robins following suit. With over 25K personnel employed on the base, its 35 square miles are covered with a variety of Department of Defense activities each day. It is difficult to go anywhere in the county without knowing someone who works at or retired from the base.<\/p>\n Activities Abound<\/strong> – Surprisingly, there is quite a few varied activities in the local area to pique a wide variety of consumer interests.
