{"id":6828,"date":"2017-10-30T04:01:20","date_gmt":"2017-10-30T04:01:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/doctors-back-lagos-waste-management-reform\/"},"modified":"2017-10-30T04:01:20","modified_gmt":"2017-10-30T04:01:20","slug":"doctors-back-lagos-waste-management-reform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/doctors-back-lagos-waste-management-reform\/","title":{"rendered":"Doctors back Lagos waste management reform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<p><div><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/guardian.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Lagos-sanitation.jpg?resize=1280%2C720&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" class=\"size-full wp-image-155277 lazyload\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">PHOTO: ekekeee.com<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\nWith growing body of evidence suggesting  that built environment  plays a significant role in health and well-being, the chairman, Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Muyiwa Odusote\u00a0has expressed concern about environmental conditions that contribute to declining health in individuals and the population as a whole. <\/p>\n<p>He spoke, when he led a delegation of the association on a courtesy visit to\u00a0the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment, Dr Babatunde Adejare.Expressing the association\u2019s willingness to partner\u00a0with\u00a0the Lagos State Government\u00a0in waste management, Odusote\u00a0called for conceited efforts by all relevant stakeholders\u00a0to protect the environment.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\nThe NMA chairman also the on-going solid waste management reform in Lagos State, saying it will help in sustainability of the environment.Earlier, Dr Adejare said\u00a0 the state has conceived the Cleaner Lagos Initiative as a holistic and sustainable solution to the solid waste management challenge in Lagos State.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nHe said that the initiative provided an avenue for the injection of private investment and modern technology into waste management in the<br \/>\nState.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nAccording to him, the Cleaner Lagos Initiative would engender the transformation of waste management facilities with the establishment<br \/>\nof engineered land fill sites, material recovery facilities and the use of modern compactors and over 900,000 electronically tracked waste bins across the State.<br \/>\n \u00a0<br \/>\nAdejare stated that the importance of the environment to socio-economic development explained the priority attention that the Lagos State Government had accorded the sector, adding that the Akinwunmi Ambode Administration\u2019s determination to achieve sustainable environment was reflected in the efforts to tackle the waste management challenge through the Cleaner Lagos Initiative.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nHe also said that the government was equally combating Climate Change through aggressive greening, beautification and establishment of parks and gardens across the state.<\/p>\n<p><a hre=\"http:\/\/guardian.ng\/property\/doctors-back-lagos-waste-management-reform\/\"> Guardian <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PHOTO: ekekeee.com With growing body of evidence suggesting that built environment plays a significant role in &hellip;
