{"id":5445,"date":"2017-07-24T04:32:40","date_gmt":"2017-07-24T04:32:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/board-charges-surveyors-on-global-certification\/"},"modified":"2017-07-24T07:38:09","modified_gmt":"2017-07-24T07:38:09","slug":"board-charges-surveyors-on-global-certification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/board-charges-surveyors-on-global-certification\/","title":{"rendered":"Board charges surveyors on global certification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<p><div><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/guardian.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DSC09436.jpg?resize=1280%2C718&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"718\" class=\"size-full wp-image-230088 lazyload\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Minister of Power, Works and <a href=\"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/sell-your-home-online-fast\/\">Housing<\/a>, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) PHOTO: BUNMI AMOSU<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\nConstruction economists have been urged to obtain international certifications as means of playing their game in the global construction sector of the economy.\t<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola made the call at the 7th Building and Construction Economic Roundtable (BCERT 7), held in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Fashola, who was represented at the event by the Director, Quantity Surveying in the Ministry, Dickson Onoja, noted that globalisation had enhanced mobility of labour, stressing that the present administration was determined to encourage professionals to engage in globally competitiveness.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nOn his part the President, Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN), Mallam Murtala Aliyu urged members of the profession to key into global competitiveness and ensure best practice in terms of quality of their professional services by giving serious attention to standardisation, metrology, conformity assessment, certification and accreditation.<\/p>\n<p>Aliyu observed that the role of quantity surveying in putting Nigeria on the cutting-edge of global competitiveness should be interrogated.He added that implicit in a globally competitive economy is the availability of massive employment opportunities especially for youths and very active population.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, building and construction together with the <a href=\"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/property-center-nigeria\/\">real estate<\/a> sector of the economy are amongst the most strategic sectors of any economy as their collective effect can be seen and felt in all activities sectors of all global economies.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nAliyu who decried the dismal performance of Nigeria in the 2016 \u2013 2017 Global Competitiveness Index where it ranked 127 out of the 138 countries studied, stated that the focus of BCERT 7 is the on global competitiveness of Nigeria\u2019s quantity surveying in driving national development.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe interpretation is that, we are one of the least productive economies of the world. This surely calls for sober reflection.
