{"id":5404,"date":"2017-07-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-07-21T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/foreclosures-now-unicorns-of-housing-market\/"},"modified":"2017-07-22T12:23:48","modified_gmt":"2017-07-22T12:23:48","slug":"foreclosures-now-unicorns-of-housing-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/foreclosures-now-unicorns-of-housing-market\/","title":{"rendered":"Foreclosures Now \u2018Unicorns\u2019 of Housing Market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<div readability=\"44.920514761544\">\n<!--\n\n<pre>-->  <\/p>\n<div property=\"dc:description\" readability=\"36.131718395155\"><!--paging_filter--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/guide-on-how-to-buy-a-foreclosed-home\/\">Foreclosure<\/a> filings, which include default notices, scheduled auctions, and bank repossessions, are down 20 percent from the same period a year ago, according to the Midyear 2017 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report from ATTOM Data Solutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith a few local market exceptions, <a href=\"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/buy-foreclosed-homes-in-your-area-in-u-s\/\">foreclosures<\/a> have become the unicorns of the <a href=\"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/property-center-nigeria\/\">housing<\/a> market: hard to find but highly sought after,\u201d says Daren Blomquist, senior vice president at ATTOM Data Solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Foreclosures are fading overall, but there has been a notable uptick in\u00a0some areas. \u201cThese divergent foreclosure trends are likely the result of the big banks and government agencies selling off distressed <a href=\"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/fast-flexible-real-estate-loans-usa\/\">loans<\/a> over the past few years to non-bank entities that are now foreclosing on an increasing volume of that deferred distress,\u201d Blomquist says.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The states with the highest foreclosure rates in the first half of 2017 were:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>New Jersey<\/li>\n<li>Delaware<\/li>\n<li>Maryland<\/li>\n<li>Illinois<\/li>\n<li>Connecticut<\/li>\n<li>Nevada\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Florida<\/li>\n<li>South Carolina<\/li>\n<li>Ohio<\/li>\n<li>New Mexico<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>On a metro level, the cities (with populations of at least 200,000) with the highest foreclosure rates in the first half of 2017 were:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Atlantic City, N.J.: 1.71% of housing units with foreclosure filings<\/li>\n<li>Trenton, N.J.: 1.02%\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Philadelphia, Pa.: 0.79%\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Rockford, Ill.: 0.74%<\/li>\n<li>Baltimore, Md.: 0.69%<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"tableauPlaceholder\" id=\"viz1500590001559\" style=\"position: relative\"><noscript><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Midyear 2017 Foreclosure Activity by Metro \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/public.tableau.com\/static\/images\/Mi\/Midyear2017ForeclosureActivitybyMetro\/Dashboard1\/1_rss.png\" style=\"border: none\"\/><\/noscript><\/div>\n<p><em>Source: RealtyTrac\/ATTOM Data Solutions<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a hre=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/DailyRealEstateNews\/~3\/yhjqOg2j_WQ\/foreclosures-now-unicorns-housing-market\"> Realtors.org <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Foreclosure filings, which include default notices, scheduled auctions, and bank repossessions, are down 20 percent from &hellip;
