\"\"To excel in estate surveying profession, under-graduates in the field have been challenged to be disciplined, work hard and put maximum integrity into their daily dealings with people.<\/p>\n

Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) in Plateau State, Fidel Okpanachi Idoko gave the charge during a visit by students and lecturers of the Department of Estate Management of Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Kogi State and their counterparts from the University of Jos.<\/p>\n

He said estate management and valuation is a general description of a range of subjects touching upon every aspect of relationship between society at large and individuals who occupy or own land hence the need for them to develop expertise on the job and treat people with the highest sense of integrity.<\/p>\n

\u201cIntegrity should be your watchword because the clients entrust their property in their care, because disappointing them can lead<\/a> to their untimely death\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

He highlighted other positive attributes they must exhibit to include; warm and good personalities, high mental alertness and sound moral qualities with intuitive minds.<\/p>\n

Idoko urged them to develop expertise in the field of valuation, property management, housing<\/a> management, land acquisition and compensation<\/a>, agency, facility management, project development and management.<\/p>\n

Idoko assured them that employment opportunities abound for estate surveyors and valuers in both private and public establishment once they built their competency on the job.<\/p>\n

Another estate surveyor and valuer, Mr. Simeon Anokwuru, said the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON) issues guidelines to cover land valuations, buildings and equipment for various purposes, adding that the body enforces report that any valuer issues to prospective clients to conforms to the generally accepted standards.<\/p>\n
