{"id":4419,"date":"2017-05-08T03:26:37","date_gmt":"2017-05-08T03:26:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/engineers-proffer-solutions-to-building-collapse-food-waste\/"},"modified":"2017-07-01T11:43:55","modified_gmt":"2017-07-01T11:43:55","slug":"engineers-proffer-solutions-to-building-collapse-food-waste","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/engineers-proffer-solutions-to-building-collapse-food-waste\/","title":{"rendered":"Engineers proffer solutions to building collapse, food waste"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<div><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-137124 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/guardian.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Synagogue.jpg?resize=1280%2C720&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">collapse of buildings have become a serious challenge\u00a0in the country, especially in Lagos area and therefore requires urgent actions\u00a0so that these unfortunate incidences do not occur anymore<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>To stem the tide of building collapse\u00a0in Lagos and other parts of the country, the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has called for collective responsibility from professionals in the built environment\u00a0and members of\u00a0the public.<\/p>\n<p>The group said the collapse of buildings have become a serious challenge\u00a0in the country, especially in Lagos area and therefore requires urgent actions\u00a0so that these unfortunate incidences do not occur anymore.<\/p>\n<p>Lagos Branch Chairman of NSE, Mr. Johnson Akinwande who disclosed this at the 2017 yearly lecture\/awards and induction ceremony, held at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), urged Nigerians to patronise qualified professionals in their projects.<\/p>\n<div class=\"box\">\n<div style=\"width: 100%;overflow: hidden\">\n<div id='ventra-dfp-2' class='dfp-ad ad-container' style='margin: 15px auto;height:250px;width: 300px'>\n\t\t\t    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\nThe General Manager of Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Oladotun Lasoju, an engineer, who spoke on the topic: \u2018Prevention of Collapse of Building- The Collective Responsibilities\u201d, said\u00a0Lagos State government has employed additional 310 professionals to ensure building control and development function for statewide coverage.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the state government\u00a0is leaving no stone unturned towards ensuring that an end is put n the building collapse because of its colossal cost to the state and the nation at large.<\/p>\n<p>Lasoju, who was represented by Bayo Amosun, called for citizens\u2019 participation to ensure that that illegal building or renovations are reported to the authority in order to achieve zero tolerance to building collapse in the state.<\/p>\n<p>In a related development,\u00a0NSE\u00a0has solicited the placement of its members in top management positions in\u00a0order\u00a0to ensure proper recognition and welfare of engineers in private and public organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Such recognition, the society said, would enhance engineers\u2019 performance towards the nation\u2019s economic development.
