l<\/strong>agos<\/strong>\u2014The Magodo Residents Association has called on the Lagos State government to wade into a planned invasion of the estate to enforce a warrant of possession in respect of a court judgment obtained by one Adebayo Adeyiga and others against the Lagos State government.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The association maintained that they were not parties to the suit instituted by Adebayo Adeyiga on behalf of members of Shangisha Landlords Association in 1988, consequently they should not be affected by the Supreme Court judgement obtained in favour of the Shangisha landlords.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, chairman of the residents\u2019 association, Kunle Eludire, said landlords in Magodo were affected by a case they were not a party to.<\/p>\n

Eludire said: \u201cWe have it on good authority that any moment from now, they would invade our estate with bulldozers to demolish any property they fancy within the estate.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the case, which had been lingering for about three decades, was instituted by one Chief Adebayo Adeyiga on behalf of members of the Shangisha Landlords Association in 1988.<\/p>\n

According to him, the court had declared that members of the Shangisha association, whose buildings were demolished by the Lagos State Government between June 1984 and May 1985, be given first choice preferential treatment by the state government in the allocation of 549 plots of land in Shangisha village.<\/p>\n

The association chairman argued that residents of the estate were not parties to the case and that the judgment was given against the Lagos State Government and not residents of Magodo Phase II.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
