This shift in investment sentiment has propelled rates lower.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"1.3095238095238\">\n<p>Read more: Why Mortgage Rates Are Dropping<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Freddie Mac reports the following national averages with mortgage rates for the week ending April 20:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>30-year fixed-rate mortgages: <\/strong>averaged 3.97 percent, with an average 0.5 point, falling from last week\u2019s 4.08 percent average. Last year at this time, 30-year rates averaged 3.59 percent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>15-year fixed-rate mortgages:<\/strong> averaged 3.23 percent, with an average 0.5 point, falling from last week\u2019s 3.34 percent average. A year ago, 15-year rates averaged 2.85 percent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>5-year hybrid adjustable-rate mortgages:<\/strong> averaged 3.10 percent, with an average 0.4 point, falling from last week\u2019s 3.18 percent average.
