After an initial effort by Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) that eventually turned out to be a \u2018false start\u2019, fresh moves are being made to resuscitate the N61 billion Katampe District engineering infrastructure project.<\/p>\n

FCT has constituted an Inter-Ministerial Committee to review the extent of compliance with the obligations and the processes of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) contract agreement by the FCTA\/FCDA, the developer, lenders<\/a>, the independent engineer, the PPP consultant, ICRC and other government agencies with reference to the technical and financial performances.<\/p>\n

The committee tagged \u201cInter-Ministerial Committee on Contract and Financial Audit of the PPP Project for the Development of Engineering Infrastructure for Katampe District, Abuja\u201d is chaired by a retired Permanent Secretary, Engr. Zanna Baba-Gana would submit its report within six weeks.<\/p>\n

Similarly, the committee is expected to establish the extent of interventions by relevant government agencies with respect to the monitoring of the PPP Contract, establish any shortcomings in the performance of the Partnership Contract in the course of the review and make appropriate recommendations on the way forward.<\/p>\n

FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, who inaugurated the committee in Abuja, expressed disappointment, that the PPP project, which commenced in 2012 and scheduled to last 36 months, is just 16.4 per cent completed as at January 2015.<\/p>\n

He however gave the assurance that the project audit was not intended for witch-hunting, but rather a fact-finding exercise designed to assist the FCT Administration to diagnose the problems that have threatened the success of the PPP project, with a view to identifying appropriate solutions and ensuring successful completion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
