Amana house Kano , The state Government owes Amana Estate contractors N3.6bn . Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje said.<\/h2>\n

Ganduje said this on Thursday while conducting visiting journalists round the 553 low-cost housing<\/a> estate being built by government near Amana City in Kumbotso Local Government area of the state.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He said the Amana Housing estate, which was constructed by the former administration of Gov. Rabi\u2019u Kwankwaso, could not be purchased by individuals due to their high prices.<\/p>\n

He said even though the current administration had reduced the prices of the houses<\/a>, nobody was interested of buying them.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe state government is still owing contractors of the houses more than N3.6 billion because people have refused to purchase the houses as planned due to their exorbitant prices.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe reduced the prices of the Amana house kano\u00a0<\/strong> for people to buy, but still nobody is interested in buying the houses, \u201c he said.<\/p>\n

Ganduje said the state government had started discussing with some banks on how to pay the contractors pending when the houses would be sold.<\/p>\n

On the low-cost housing estate, the governor said the decision to construct the houses was borne out of the current administration\u2019s effort to provide houses for low income earners in the state.<\/p>\n

He said the houses, when completed, would be sold to interested individuals at the rate of N2.8 million, pointing out that the cost of the houses would not include the cost of the land.<\/p>\n

\u201cInterested buyers are expected to pay N1.5 million as initial deposit, while the remaining balance of N1.3 will be paid over a period of one year.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is interesting to tell this gathering that the land on which the houses are constructed were allocated free by the government,\u201dhe said.<\/p>\n

Dr Jibrilla Mohammed, The Managing Director of Kano State Property Investment Company, said the state government would construct 553 houses out of which 230 had already been completed.<\/p>\n

He said that the government intended to construct such houses in all the 44 local government areas of the state depending on the need and population of each local government area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
