Ask those who seem stuck in negativity how they intend to fix the problem. This will help you redirect the conversation to a more productive place. \u201cComplainers and negative people are bad news because they wallow in their problems and fail to focus on solutions,\u201d the researchers note. \u201cPeople often feel pressure to listen to complainers because they don\u2019t want to be seen as callous or rude, but there\u2019s a fine line between lending a sympathetic ear and getting sucked into their negative emotional spiral.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maintain emotional distance.<\/strong><\/p>\n
