{"id":1767,"date":"2017-03-10T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-03-10T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/buy-vs-rent-index-says-buy\/"},"modified":"2017-03-10T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-03-10T00:00:00","slug":"buy-vs-rent-index-says-buy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/buy-vs-rent-index-says-buy\/","title":{"rendered":"Buy vs. Rent Index Says \u2018Buy\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<div readability=\"44.18253968254\">\n<!--\n\n<pre>-->  <\/p>\n<div property=\"dc:description\" readability=\"38.136507936508\"><!--paging_filter--><\/p>\n<p>The escalating costs of renting are making it a better time to purchase a home in most cities across the country, according to the Florida Atlantic University and Florida International University\u2019s Buy vs. Rent Index.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"1.1224489795918\">\n<p><strong>Read more<\/strong>: <span class=\"l\">Consumers Will Compromise to Buy Homes<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;This is great news for homeownership and the financial returns to ownership,&#8221; says Ken Johnson, a <a href=\"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/property-center-nigeria\/\">real estate<\/a> economist and one of the index&#8217;s authors. &#8220;We are not where we were in 2012, when nearly any purchase was a sound financial decision. However, overall, we are now in a situation where aggressive marketing from sellers combined with due diligence and sound negotiation from buyers is creating a <a href=\"https:\/\/amazingproperty.com.ng\/blog\/sell-your-home-online-fast\/\">housing<\/a> market that&#8217;s more in line with what we&#8217;ve seen historically.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen of the 23 cities in the Buy vs. Rent Index are solidly in \u201cbuy\u201d territory. Another five are only marginally in rent territory, the authors note.
