As part of measures to cut down cost, the\u00a0 Kaduna State Government is to sell 1,990 of its non-essential residential quarters to the public through\u00a0 auction.<\/span><\/p>\n The government in a statement said the decision to sell the houses<\/a> was taken at a meeting of the state executive council presided over by the\u00a0Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThe houses are to be sold by means of a public auction based on their open-market value.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAccording to the approved guidelines, only persons and corporate bo<\/span>dies resident in Kaduna State are eligible to submit bids for the properties, and each property will be sold at the highest price offered.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe guidelines also stipulate that no property will be sold for less than its reserve price,\u201d the statement said, adding that\u00a0 every bidder is rest<\/span>ricted to only one property.<\/span><\/p>\n The guidelines further\u00a0 <\/span>indicated that the public servants that are currently occupying the properties have the first right of refusal to match the winning bid.<\/span><\/p>\n The sale however, excludes all government quarters in schools, hospitals and similar public institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n The statement noted that \u201cat about 3,000 in number, government residential quarters have always accommodated only a minority of public servants but with a disproportionate impact in terms of resources devoted to their maintenance and renovation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The statement said\u00a0a\u00a0 full list of the houses\u00a0 had been uploaded on the state website.<\/span><\/p>\n Thisday<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
